Since 1883, Lincoln has influenced the lives of children and families through evolving programs to disrupt cy-cles of poverty and trauma by addressing three core areas: education, family, and well-being. In 2013, Lin-coln adopted and launched its first MDFT program in Contra Costa County, funded by County Mental Health and Probation. Within a short time, MDFT proved to be an excellent fit for Lincoln.

Child Trauma Advocates Grapple with Historical Trauma
In recent years, the idea of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) has gained traction in child-serving organizations as a way to understand behavioral issues and poor health outcomes faced by children with traumatic life experiences, such as abuse, neglect or household dysfunction, like having an incarcerated parent. The growth of trauma-informed services is part of a continuing push to help children overcome these experiences.
